Newbridge College Union wishes to express its support and solidarity with any past pupil who was subject to abuse whilst attending the College. It is a matter of great sadness and immense regret that young people were abused as students in the College. This abuse should not have happened. The Union acknowledges the courage of those who have come forward, and it is important that their voices and that of others who may not yet have come forward, can now be heard.

A media statement released by the Dominican Order on November 22^nd 2022, encourages any past pupil affected by abuse to come forward to seek support.

We are conscious that we, as your Union, have a role to play. While we do not have the necessary expertise to offer professional assistance to any past pupil who has been impacted by abuse, we are committed to ensuring that those affected can access the necessary supports. We will take on board any suggestions from individual past pupils on how we might fulfil this commitment.

We strongly encourage any past pupil who is a victim/survivor to come forward and begin the process of healing with our full support coupled with the stated support of the Dominican Order.
